When it comes to Boer breed,
this goat breed was developed in South Africa in the early 1900s for meat
production. The name "Boer" is derived from the Dutch word
(Afrikaans) which means "farmer". Generally, Boer goats are famous
for their meat production and the commercial breeding of Boer goat is very much
successful and the breeding season usually starts in august and runs through
the month of December. Selecting a quality buck is
more important for commercial meat production. Medium-sized does are normally
preferred, as they produce the same number of kids, but require less feed to do
so. Boer goat breeds are found in various parts of south India; Maharashtra, Andhra
Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Read more here.
